Violet Thread Strategy Blog is a container for my musings on brand strategy and emerging culture.

Why Violet Thread? My name, Yola, literally means violet flower and my mantra (since the age of 16) is “creativity is connecting the unconnected.” This blog is a space where seemingly disconnected deep thoughts on marketing and culture will be thread together to provide fresh inspiration for your day. Voila: Violet + Thread.

I’m a big sponge with diverse interests across music, books, movies, art food culture, etc. Expect deep thoughts on culture. Living in the city of Austin for 17 years also informs my point of view, so if you also want to know what' it’s like to live here from someone who been here awhile, this is a place for you.

As a brand strategist of 12+ years, I find new ideas and ways of thinking from many different places, and I want to share these thoughts with you versus bottling them all up in my Moleskine notebook. She’s been a trusty guide that has helped me out of strategic writing blocks and finding new “ways in” on an advertising pitch, but analog thoughts can get a bit lonely. It’s much more fun to share and open the conversation outward. And hopefully it will help you get unstuck or inspire a new thought that you can carry to your day or line of work.
